City of Danville’s Relationship with Village Mall Owners Worsens
During the “Items of Information” portion at the end of Tuesday (Feb 20th) evening’s Danville City Council meeting; it was Alderman Jon Cooper, followed by Vice-Mayor Tricia Teague, who mentioned that Village Mall indoor family fun center JumpOff is being told by mall owner, AZT Corporation, that they must vacate their location, even though their lease is not up until the month of May.

Paxton Police Blotter: Farmer City man arrested for meth
PAXTON — The Paxton Police Department released the following list of recent activity:. — Jeremy L. Smolek, 25, of Farmer City, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended driver’s license and operating an uninsured vehicle during a traffic stop at 1:55 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at the intersection of Orleans and Washington streets on Paxton’s east side. The traffic stop was conducted after a Paxton police officer, who was aware from previous contacts with Smolek that his license was suspended, saw Smolek driving a 1991 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck while pulling another vehicle using a tow strap. During the traffic stop, police confirmed that Smolek’s license was suspended, and a search of the truck revealed the presence of several containers containing suspected methamphetamine totaling about 5 grams, as well as two glass pipes used to smoke methamphetamine. The truck was seized by police under city ordinance.

Danville Welcomes Three New Probationary Firefighters

A full house in the Danville City Council Chambers on President’s Day (Feb 19th) morning witnessed the swearing in of three new Danville probationary firefighters. Dean Lambert, Cristofer Harrier, and Nash Garrison all took the oath from Danville Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr; prior to their upcoming training. Fire Chief Aaron Marcott said this is a big week for the Danville Fire Department. Five firefighters are coming off probation, and the three new ones sworn in Monday morning will eventually replace three others. As the chief explained, it all keeps the Danville Fire Department complete, at a full house of 48.
