Fall is making a big entrance! 90s to 40s in just a few days-Bob Jeswald - Columbus, Ga. 10/12/2026

The weather pattern is about to take a dramatic turn across East Alabama and West Georgia, and fall fans have plenty to look forward to!For now, strong high pressure is keeping our weather quiet across the Southeast and much of the southern and central United States. While storm systems track around this area of high pressure, we'll stay high and dry with comfortable mornings, plenty of sunshine, and afternoon temperatures climbing close to 90 degrees through Thursday. But don't get too comfortable with the warmth. A major change is on the way! From summerlike warmth to a taste of fallOur transition begins Friday as a much colder air mass moves into the region. Temperatures will start backing off from the upper 80s Friday, with afternoon highs falling into the lower 70s by Saturday. The bigger story may come early Sunday morning. Temperatures could dip into the 40s across some of our northern viewing areas, potentially bringing us our coolest readings of the season so far! That's a significant change in just a few days, so you may want to have a jacket handy if you're heading out early this weekend.A beautiful weekend for outdoor plansThe good news? We're not expecting any rain this weekend. The forecast looks dry, making it a great opportunity to plan outdoor activities, enjoy local events, get outside, or simply take advantage of the refreshing change in temperatures.Tropical update: The Atlantic takes a breatherWhile the tropical Atlantic is getting a break, the eastern Pacific remains much more active. We'll continue monitoring tropical activity and keeping you updated on any systems that could eventually affect our region. For now, enjoy the warmth while it lasts. A refreshing taste of fall is just around the corner!Stay with WRBL First Alert Weather for the latest forecast updates.
