News : V-S FFA Shows Skills at District Ag Mechanics
On Wednesday, April 24th members of the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter traveled to Calmar for the annual District Ag Mechanics Career Development Event. Two teams of three were able to compete including Dallas Fairbanks, Evan Lopata, Jacob Dudley, Andrew Allsup, Ben McGowan, and Wes McKenna. These students used their skills to stand out in the Northeast District by being tough competitors.
Linn County Master Gardeners launch "Share a Row" initiative to combat food shortages
Hiawatha — In eastern Iowa, an organization is launching an initiative to fight food insecurities across the region. It's called "Share a Row" and it was launched by Linn County Master Gardeners. That initiative is part of the Community Outreach Garden Project to build more community gardens across eastern Iowa. Produce is grown from those gardens and is then donated to local food pantries to help people that are dealing with food insecurities.
