( WJET/WFXP ) – A rare meteorological event has taken place in Cochranton.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued in the area by the National Weather Service earlier Saturday evening.

While no tornado touched down, a clockwise rotating funnel was visible.

The clockwise, or “anti-cyclonic,” rotation is rare to see, as only about 1-5% of tornadoes rotate anti-cyclonically.

JET 24/FOX 66’s storm chaser Steve Marshall was able to photograph the funnel cloud.

Photos and videos of this rare event can be seen in the player above.
