LUBBOCK, Texas — A federal complaint obtained by EverythingLubbock.com on Wednesday revealed three witnesses saw the vehicle that 26-year-old Alek Collins drove to a Clovis park when he was accused of kidnapping a baby , killing two women and injuring a child in a shooting.

Police responded to Ned Houk Park on May 3. CPD said Samantha “Harley” Cisneros and Taryn Allen, both 23, of Texico, were found dead outside a minivan with “multiple” gunshot wounds.

Federal court records said evidence suggested Cisneros was also struck or dragged by a vehicle. A 5-year-old girl, Cisneros’s child, was found with a gunshot wound to the head and taken to a Lubbock hospital. Cisneros’s 10-month-old daughter, Eleia Maria Torres, was abducted by Collins. Police found 9mm handgun casings at the scene, and a side-mirror from a maroon car.

Witness thought Collins was talking to the victims

Security video showed Collins in the maroon Honda in the McDonald’s drive-through near the Dollar Tree where the woman and kids were seen before heading to the park. Court records said Collins was at Ned Houk Park less than an hour before the shooting happened. Court documents also clarified the shooting happened around 3:30 p.m., and Collins left the park around 3:38 p.m.

Three witnesses drove by the park around the time of the shooting, court records stated. Each said they saw the maroon car at the park. According to court records, one witness saw the maroon vehicle parked across from an older van.

“It appeared to the witness that the drivers of the car and van were communicating,” a criminal complaint stated.

    Carjacking at gunpoint

After the shooting, the GPS on the maroon Honda, which was a rented vehicle, showed Collins as speeding and avoiding major highways. EverythingLubbock.com previously reported the vehicle was tracked through Friona, Sudan, Littlefield, Levelland, Ropesville, Tahoka and ultimately back to Abilene.

Once back in Abilene, the FBI and local law enforcement started watching the Abilene home that Collins was at. On May 6, authorities saw Collins pushing the Honda from the home’s garage to the street. The damage to the vehicle was consistent to the evidence found at the scene in Clovis.

Early that same morning, officers saw an Uber driver at the home. Court records said Collins walked out of the home with the baby and put her on the rear passenger seat. Court documents stated Collins got in the front passenger seat and carjacked the driver at gunpoint and drove off with the baby. According to the complaint, officers chased and “pinned” the Cadillac. Baby Eleia was “safely” recovered and identified.

Collins made threats to the FBI more than once

The complaint also went further into detail about Collins’s previous threats. The complaint said he contacted the FBI in September of 2023 about looking for his daughter and made threatening comments. Collins was taken in for a mental health evaluation at the time.

Then on October 10, 2023, Collins called the FBI again and said if they did not help find his daughter, he’d kill people and children. He also told the FBI he once kidnapped a mother and her son. EverythingLubbock.com requested additional information about those claims, and the FBI said it cannot provide further comments.

The complaint said Collins was “intoxicated” at the time and could not provide the “real name” for his daughter or the girl’s mother. Collins was interviewed by law enforcement two more times in 2023, and he eventually told authorities he did not have weapons and did not actually want to hurt anyone. He said just used the statements to draw attention to get more help.

Collins went before a federal judge in Abilene on Tuesday morning. He will remain in custody of the U.S. Marshals Service and later be transferred to New Mexico.

According to reports from the Eastern New Mexico News, the 5-year-old that was injured is still recovering in a Lubbock hospital. An attorney for the family told The News the family is hopeful the child can be released in the next few weeks.

Collins was charged with the murders of Cisneros and Allen, assaulting the 5-year-old and kidnapping the baby. His federal charge is for kidnapping. APD said he is also being charged with Aggravated Robbery and Assault of a Peace Officer, with more charges pending. As of Tuesday, Collins remained in custody on a hold for the United States Marshals. Additional updates about the case can be found at EverythingLubbock.com as they become available.
