WEATHER: Fire weather watch already announced for Sunday affecting Chase, Greenwood counties
The area fire danger will be elevated Friday and Saturday, but it may well be critical to extreme Sunday. The National Weather Service has already announced a fire weather watch for Sunday involving Chase and Greenwood counties. High temperatures approaching 80 degrees will combine with south winds gusting as high as 30-45 mph, increasingly dry grasses and relative humidity levels as low as 15 percent.

Stream Advisory for Onion Creek Near Hamilton Rescinded
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment rescinds the stream advisory for Onion Creek to Willow Creek north of Hamilton in Greenwood County. The original advisory was issued in February 6th due to water contamination from a crude oil tank leak. Water testing has determined that contaminant levels in the water are within normal levels and the KDHE has determined that the stream is safe for wading and livestock use.

Fire weather watch issued for Greenwood County due to extreme fire conditions expected Tuesday; Area fire crews quell out of control burn Sunday
The National Weather Service is anticipating extreme fire danger later this week and as such has issued a fire weather watch affecting a portion of the KVOE listening area. The watch covers Greenwood County from Tuesday morning to Tuesday evening with wind gusts as high as 20 to 30 mph and relative humidity around 19 percent forecasted. With the watch in place, outdoor burning is not banned at this time, however, it is highly discouraged as any fires that develop could be difficult to control and can spread rapidly if they become out of control.
