Pippy’s Petals received a ribboncutting by the Clifton Chamber of Commerce on Thursday afternoon, April 18.

The new floral and gift shop is owned and operated by Clifton native Glenda Haynes.

Glenda said she named the shop after a nickname her niece Dacey Patrick gave her 14 years ago.

“It’s now my grandma name,” she added.

The shop itself –her very first venture into the small business world– is inspired by Glenda’s late mother Cliffie (Pierce) Pruett.

“I do believe she is up there in heaven just smiling down on us,” she said. “She was the most gifted crafts person. She did everything.”

Pruett not only assisted clients with interior design, beautiful real and faux floral arrangements from her own home but also enjoyed passing down her knowledge and skills to others, she said.

“Our house smelled like eucalyptus for as long as I could remember,” Glenda said of her family’s dwelling. “She never had a brick-and-mortar building, but we talked about it.”

Glenda added, “When she passed away, I said, ‘I’m going to do it, and if it works, it works. I will never know if I don’t give it a shot.’” Pippy’s Petals officially opened two weeks before this past Valentine’s Day, and it’s been full-speed ever since serving Bosque County and the surrounding areas, she said.

“It’s going great. Bosque County has been awesome. We’ve received a lot of support,” Glenda said.

The shop carries not only flowers (faux and real) but also squeeze melts for wax warmers, personalized cups, and gift bags for all occasions – even for your four-legged friends.

Her career path is diverse, working in the mental health sector with children, becoming a certified nail tech, and selling advertising for small newspapers, and through it all, she has always had a craft room, her happy place.

Located at 406 North Avenue G (Highway 6) in Clifton, the shop used to be a laundromat, a restaurant, and a hair salon, she said.

Glenda said that the best part of the business is putting smiles on customers’ faces.

“Brightening anybody’s day is awesome,” she said.
