Falling concrete worries close lane of Scranton street
The City of Scranton has closed the westbound lane of Theodore Street between Ralph and Return Avenues, out of an abundance of concern for drivers and residents. Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti, the Department of Public Works, and members of the City’s engineering firm, Reilly Associates, conducted a visual inspection of the railroad bridge over Theodore Street on Friday. That inspection caused concern about the possibility of at least one large piece of concrete falling into the westbound lane of Theodore Street. Concerns about the bridge superstructure have been raised previously by the City, resulting in work on the bridge in September 2023.

EXETER TWP., Pa. – The Exeter Township Board of Supervisors appeared to be in a forgiving mood Monday night. After meeting briefly in executive session over the matter, supervisors granted a variance for the construction of a home at 671 Gerhart Lane. The problem was that the Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance, or SALDO, allows for only three dwellings to be built on Gerhart Lane, and there are already four dwellings on the road.
