Final Whistle: Nuggets fall in game one & CMU Softball’s path to the playoffs
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The defending champs fall in game one of their series, and CMU Softball has fallen into murky waters, regarding a NCAA Tournament berth. The Denver Nuggets suffered a loss in the first game of their second round matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves, where Anthony Edwards became the second player in post season history with back-to-back 40+ point games below the age of 23 since Kobe Bryant.
Local woman set to run 200-mile course around the Grand Valley
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Madison Tomlinson is a local ultra-marathon runner who has already completed long-distance routes like Kokopelli Trail at 142 miles and Collegiate Peaks Loop at around 160 miles. After extensive preparation and planning, Tomlinson and her team started a multi-day journey that would take her across the Grand Valley on foot.

Sophomore Tristan Brinton working behind the cage when he pulls out a sweet spin move before cutting back inside and throwing the ball in the cage of the cage through contact as well. Some might call that an and 1 in basketball but in LAX that’s just good physical play from both sides. Brinton was involved with half the Tigers goals as he finished the game with 3 goals and 3 assists in Grand Junction’s 12-10 win over Fruita. Grand Junction earned the #18 seed in the 4A State Playoffs where they will play #15 Aspen in the first round on Tuesday.
Nostrand’s defensive wizardry takes Play of the Week
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - Central High School’s Ryland Nostrand won with the glove, and won this week’s Play of the Week poll. During last week’s rivalry matchup between the Central Warriors and Grand Junction Tigers, on a pitch from Dayton Timbreza that was barreled up by Grand Junction’s Clayton Scarbrough Nostrand, on the run was able to field the ball, spin and fire to first to rob a base hit. The ballgame wound up being a narrow 3-2 Warrior win over their rivals, so any and all outs were critical in the winning effort.
