City hosts groundbreaking for Community Rec Center
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, the City of Grand Junction will host a ceremony for the Community Rec Center at Matchett Park. There’s a 5k fun run and disc golf tournament at 8:30 a.m. prior to the groundbreaking, and even more events will follow from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Events include but aren’t limited to a BBQ lunch from Colorado Q for the first 450 people to show up. That will be provided in the space of the future community rooms courtesy of FCI Construction.

Governor Polis Signs Bill Into Law Making Two Years of College Free for Coloradans
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - Colorado students can now enroll in college for free, for their first two years. Governor Jared Polis signed the landmark bill into law Wednesday. Under new law, families who make less than $90,000 per year are eligible to receive an income tax credit. It would cover tuition and fees, but subtract scholarships or grants a student has already received.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - This summer, travelers hitting Colorado’s scenic byways can enjoy the views without worrying about running out of gas or battery charge. With 65% of the state’s historic and scenic byways now “electrified”, electric vehicle drivers have more opportunities to explore Colorado’s beauty. The Colorado Department of Transportation’s Scenic and Historic Byway Commission has installed charging stations along 17 of the states’ 26 byways, part of the effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote eco-friendly tourism.
