For the second year in a row, Denver has ranked high on a listing of cities with bed bug infestations. It came in 15th from among more than 400 cities analyzed for problems with the blood suckers by the website Pest Gnome. The site crunched numbers regarding population density, number of multi-unit buildings and access to exterminators. From among the more than 400 cities ranked, Denver landed at 22nd for the number of accommodations, ninth for the average monthly Google searches for bed bug-related keywords during the past year, and 131st for population density.

The Denver City Council learned more Wednesday about the workforce development component of the Denver Asylum Seekers Program. The city has transitioned the way it helps migrants, closing shelters and instead placing 800 people in the asylum program. New migrant arrivals will not be eligible for the six-month work program until some graduate, according to a presentation by city staff. The city intends to keep 500 people in the work program at a time, according to Tony Anderson, workforce development manager for the city.
