    Clemson Softball Weekly Wrap - Week 13

    Clemson, ranked as high as #21 in the nation, took down fourth-seeded Virginia in the quarterfinals of the ACC Softball Championship before dropping a heart-breaker to host and top-seeded Duke in the semifinals.

    The Tigers (34-17) are headed to the Tuscaloosa Regional for the second time in four years. They open up play against third-seeded SE Louisiana and are also joined in the field by top-seeded Alabama (#14 overall seed) and fourth-seeded USC Upstate.

    Overall Record: 34-17 (15-9 ACC)

    TCI Hitter-of-the Week
    Valerie Cagle
    The senior utility player from Yorktown, VA earned her fourth hitter-of-the-week award after going 3-for-8 (.375) over two games last weekend. Cagle had a double, walk, and three RBI with a .500 slugging percentage and a .444 on-base percentage.

    TCI Pitcher-of-the-Week
    Regan Spencer
    The senior righthander from Lexington, NC earned her fourth pitcher-of-the-week award for her performance in the circle last weekend. In 9.2 innings across two appearances (one start), Spencer allowed two runs (two earned) on seven hits (.200 OBA) with two walks and four strikeouts while going 1-1 with a 1.45 ERA.

    Weekly Notes:
    The Tigers outscored their opponents 11-5 over the week while outhitting the opposition .238 (15 hits) to .222 (14 hits). For the week, Clemson had three doubles, two homers, three HBPs, and 10 walks against 12 strikeouts while going 1-3 on stolen bases. The Tiger pitching staff had a 1.25 ERA, allowing five runs (three earned) across 16.2 innings with four walks and seven strikeouts. Clemson fielded at a .970 clip, committing two errors in 67 chances.

    Looking Ahead:
    Clemson makes their fourth consecutive regional appearances with their second appearance in the Tuscaloosa Regional. The Tigers are 8-7 all-time in the NCAA Tournament with a 8-3 mark in regional play. Clemson has never faced SE Louisiana or USC Upstate and is 0-2 against Alabama with both meetings coming in to 2021 NCAA Tournament. In that 2021 Tuscaloosa Regional, Clemson defeated third-seeded Troy twice (8-0, 4-2) while dropping two games to top-seeded Alabama (0-6, 0-5).
