Clemson Treating 4-Star WR Cortez Mills Like 'Top Priority' - 4-star WR Cortez Mills is set to make his return to Clemson at the end of May.

After an impressive workout at camp last summer, Cortez Mills became the first wide receiver in the 2025 class to pick up an offer from Clemson.

In just a few weeks, the 4-star prospect (Homestead, Fl) will make his way back to campus for the first time since picking up that offer, as Mills is scheduled to be on hand for the big official visit weekend that begins on May 31.

“I’m just looking forward to being there,” Mills told The Clemson Insider. “Just being treated like family and being in a great environment. Stuff like that.”

Mills was originally planning to visit for the spring game, but a 7v7 event kept him from attending. However, despite not having been on campus in quite some time, the lines of communication have remained wide open, as receivers coach Tyler Grisham is in contact on a regular basis.

“We’re building a bond,” Mills said of his relationship with Grisham. “He’s not just building a bond with me but he is also building a bond with my mom and my sister, because they are a part of my recruitment. He’s been doing a great job. The relationship is great. He is a real guy and I feel like he can help develop me and get me to the next level.”

Mills’ older sister has already been through the recruiting process, with the blue-chip talent noting that she earned All-American honors in basketball at the juco level. For that reason, he leans on her heavily and Grisham has made sure to involve her.

“She’s a big part of it,” Mills said. “She’s like my manager. She’s been through the process but in basketball. She knows how the process, about school and all that stuff.”

While Mills has yet to watch a Clemson practice in person, he has seen enough from afar to know that he would fit right into Garrett Riley’s offense.

“They told me I’m a combo receiver so I can go outside and inside,” Mills said. “With the type of build I’ve got, that is what I feel like fits me.”

TCU, Oklahoma, Florida and Auburn all got spring visits. So did Miami. With Miami being so close by, Mario Cristobal’s program has gotten most of the visits to date.

“Miami is the hometown, right here in my backyard,” Mills said. “They’re good people and they could communicate with me well. Every time I get a chance to go visit right there in my backyard, I take advantage of it.”

The 6-foot-2, 177-pound Mills reeled in 79 catches for 1,640 yards and 18 touchdowns during his junior campaign. He currently ranks as the 11th best receiver in the 247 Composite and No. 86 overall.

Despite not being able to get back to campus this spring, the staff has still found a way to make sure he knows that he is wanted.

“Clemson treats me like a top priority every time they talk to me,” Mill said. “They show love. I know that environment is great and I just know they can help develop me on and off the field. And I know school-wise, it’s great too.”

Oklahoma, Miami, Florida and Nebraska will get officials along with Clemson. Mills said TCU could get added to that list. He is looking to make a decision after he is done with his officials, before the start of his senior season.

And as he goes through this last round of visits, he will be looking for the school he feels will not only prepare him to play at the professional level, but also prepare him for life after football.

“Just getting developed, on and off the field,” Mills said. “Even if I don’t make it to the NFL, I can still go back to that school and they can still help me.”
