The latest college hoops season hasn’t been over long, but multiple national outlets/analysts are already looking ahead to next season and releasing early rankings for the upcoming campaign.

This week, CBS Sports updated its 2024-25 preseason Top 25 And 1 rankings , and Clemson checked in just outside the top 10, coming in at No. 12 after a historic run to the Elite Eight in 2024 March Madness.

Meanwhile, FOX Sports national college basketball writer/broadcaster John Fanta recently released his updated way-too-early top 25 , and he has the Tigers ranked No. 22 – the fourth-highest-ranked ACC team behind Miami (No. 21), Duke (No. 9) and North Carolina (No. 3).

Among other recently published way-too-early rankings for the 2024-25 season, Clemson was ranked No. 13 by USA Today and No. 10 by NCAA.com.

“Ian Schieffelin is expected to return this fall and the Tigers look to build on the success from the 2023-24 season,” NCAA.com’s Andy Katz wrote .

“A repeat of the Tigers’ journey to the Elite Eight will be a challenge, but a number of the key players could be back if they choose to use their extra year,” USA Today wrote . “That group includes standout postman P.J. Hall, as well as guard Chase Hunter… Joseph Girard III is gone, but Ian Schieffelin, voted the ACC’s most improved player in 2023-24, is also slated to return.”

Clemson (24-12) finished No. 15 in the final coaches poll for the 2023-24 season. The Tigers also finished in the top 15 of the final AP Poll (No. 14).

One of the ACC’s three Elite Eight representatives, Clemson made its first Elite Eight appearance since 1980 after beating New Mexico, Baylor and Arizona in the NCAA Tournament before falling to Alabama in the Elite Eight.

The Tigers’ 24-12 record marked their best since 2017-18 (25-10), also a Sweet Sixteen team that ended the season ranked No. 15 in the coaches poll.
