Woman arrested 4 years after 2-year-old dies in Augusta hospital
STATESBORO, Ga. (WFXG) - The Statesboro Police Department made an arrest in a case that they've been investigating for 4 years. On June 14, 2020, SPD officers responded to a 2-year-old child not breathing at a home on Best Street in Statesboro. The police department says the child was later transported to a hospital in Augusta where they later died.

VALDOSTA – Georgia Southern University recently recognized Valdosta residents for earning a spot on the Spring 2024 Dean’s List. Georgia Southern University recently recognized approximately 3,460 students for excellence in academics on the Spring 2024 Dean’s List. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, a student must have at least a 3.5 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.
GDOT proposes traffic circle at Fair Road/Bypass intersection, Council supports
The Georgia Department of Transportation is proposing to construct a roundabout at the intersection of SR 67/Fair Road and Veterans Memorial Parkway, as well as medians between the signalized intersections on Fair Road. Multiple safety concerns were highlighted in the Road Safety Audit conducted by an independent, multidisciplinary team of experts, who drafted designs that the city is considered to implement to remediate the issues. Georgia Southern BIG offering free franchise seminar Tuesday
The Georgia Southern Business Innovation Group will host a free seminar on purchasing a franchise on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, from 5:30-6:30pm. The seminar will take place at the BIG City Campus located at 58 E. Main St. in downtown Statesboro. The no-cost seminar will explore the initial steps to purchasing a franchise, including creating a business plan, identifying opportunities, and understanding financing options. Panelists will include Valerie McElveen from the UGA Small Business Developement Center at Georgia Southern; Caroline Nelson, President of Bulloch First Bank; and Britt Hendrix, an experienced franchise owner.
