At least one person is dead, three are injured and four are trapped after a tornado ravaged a Tennesee community on Wednesday evening, wreaking havoc and leaving a trail of carnage in its wake.

"One fatality being reported by EMS as well," weather fanatic @Badkarmachasing wrote on X, a report that was later confirmed by News Channel 5. The account reported one critical injury before that.

The local station also reported three non-life-threatening injuries, with the victims being treated at Maury Regional, a hospital in Maury County, Tennessee, about 53 miles southwest of Nashville.

According to X user @smokiesvol, who was reportedly monitoring police scanners, another four are trapped by debris but are uninjured. Details on their situation remain scarce.

Local schools will be closed on Thursday as the authorities assess the damage from the nasty storm . That includes schools in both Maury and nearby Sumner Counties.

The tornadoes were the product of a line of storms moving eastward across Tennessee, which also carried with them flash flood warnings from torrential rains and severe winds.

The National Weather Service's Nashville branch has been posting new severe weather warnings to X about once every 10 minutes, with severe thunderstorms, tornadoes and other warnings in effect until well into the evening hours across the entire state.

Residents of the entire state as well as several nearby states, including Kentucky, are bracing themselves for the worst as the storms continue to wreak havoc. Damage was already reported after the twister that struck Columbia, a town in Maury County.

The Maury County Office of Emergency Management posted a message about the storms, writing, according to The Tennesseean, "We are receiving reports of damage. We are urging for everyone to stay off roads. If you can, stay at home."

Several Tennessee roads were closed amid the storms, with the Columbia Police Department writing on Facebook, "Bear Creek Pk and Old Hwy 99 has trees and power lines completely blocking roadway. Please use alternate routes and do not be in the area unless absolutely necessary."
