CLARKSBURG W.Va. (WBOY) — Saturday marked the start of the season for the Clarksburg Farmers Market (CFM), meaning that growers from across north central West Virginia will be gathering every Saturday until October to sell their goods.

Fifteen vendors attended the opening day and sold a variety of goods including spring produce, flowers, baked goods, jams, honey and even pet food. Flowers were also given out to kids to give to their mothers on Mother’s Day.

“One of the things we really try to do is encourage families to participate in the market,” CFM Secretary-Treasurer Bill Yoke said.

A number of the businesses in attendance were projects launched out of peoples’ houses during the COVID-19 pandemic. For instance, Justin Elliott started “Just Another Farm” , a family farm outside of Bridgeport that sells poetry, eggs, and syrup.

“We started during COVID, and we were looking for an outlet and something to bring our family together. We had the space so we decided to go ahead and go for it,” Elliott said.

If you’re interested in stopping by the farmers market, you can find it in front of the Tractor Supply Co. on Emily Drive on Saturday mornings.
