Where each Chillicothe-area high school softball team will begin its tournament run next week

CHILLICOTHE − The Ohio State High School Athletic Association released its brackets for the 2024 softball tournament over the weekend, letting area teams know where they will each begin their tournament runs.

In Division I, Chillicothe earned the No. 22 seed and will take host No. 29 Dublin Jerome at 5:30 p.m. on May 7 in a sectional semifinal. For Division II, Unioto was seeded at No. 2, and it will host a sectional final against either No. 15 Miami Trace or No. 18 Marietta. Waverly, as the No. 12 seed, will travel to take on No. 5 Jackson in a sectional final. Both games will be at 5:00 p.m. on May 8 at their respective venues.

For Division III, No. 18 Westfall will host No. 31 Federal Hocking, and No. 25 Southeastern travels to No. 24 South Point in their respective sectional semifinals at 5:00 p.m. on May 6.

No. 3 Adena earned the highest seeding in its bracket, and it will host a sectional final against either No. 22 Peebles or No. 27 Alexander. No. 9 Piketon and No. 16 Zane Trace will also face each other in a sectional final at Piketon, while No. 12 Huntington hosts No. 13 Crooksville in its own sectional final. All three games will begin at 5:00 p.m. on May 9.

Paint Valley, as the lone area team in Division IV, earned the No. 14 seed. It will travel to take on No. 3 Symmes Valley in its own sectional final at 5:00 p.m. on May 8.
