Live results: Holscher leads Masterson, but governor's race not called
Sen. Cindy Holscher, D-Lenexa, and Senate President Ty Masterson, R-Andover, sent their supporters home without any resolution in their too-close-to-call gubernatorial race. But Holscher held a slim edge of 5,557 votes, according to unofficial results. Prior to all of the votes coming in, Holscher told watch party attendees in Lenexa that she felt “really, really good about where we are right now.” “There are just a few more votes that need to be counted, but we are confident that once all the votes are counted, we will win,” she said just after midnight Nov. 4. “Go home and some rest, hug your families, maybe get something to eat because you’ve earned it because you’ve been here a long time tonight,” she said. “My team is going to keep an eye on these results.” Masterson told his supporters in Wichita that it's "literally a fraction of a percentage" difference in the race. “I wanted to close us down tonight because there’s obviously not going to be either a concession speech or a victory speech tonight because it is that close,” he said. The Senate president also lamented the election results across the nation as Republicans lost key races to lose control
