LIVINGSTON COUNTY, MO - Chillicothe Fire Department responded to a home fire Saturday on Route A at 5481. Upon arrival the home was found totally engulfed in flame. Mutual aid was also requested of Grundy County Rural, and tankers from Chula and Lock Springs. A home owner was taken with smoke-inhalation injuries to Hedrick Medical Center. The structure was deemed a total loss.

TWO INJURED IN GARBAGE TRUCK ACCIDENT
Two men were injured in a garbage truck accident in Caldwell County on Friday, December 8. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the crash occurred when Vehicle driven by 51-year-old Christopher Stockman of Slater, approached the intersection of Route KK and Route A. The vehicle skidded and traveled into the Northbound Lane of Route A, causing it to overturn and land on its passenger side.
Medical emergency cause of pursuit in Livingston County
LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Mo. - A pursuit exceeding 100mph yesterday afternoon was determined to have been caused by a medical emergency. According to Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, authorities in Linn and Livingston Counties responded after receiving several 911 calls reporting a vehicle driving recklessly, including head-on into westbound traffic on U.S. 36. A Chillicothe police officer was able to determine the driver was unconscious when the vehicle eventually slowed to 25mph. Spike strips were deployed to stop the vehicle. It’s suspected by investigators the vehicle had struck a bridge or guard rails during the incident.

The “Leave the Leaves” movement could just as easily be called “Save the Pollinators,” says University of Missouri Extension horticulture specialist Manoj Chhetri. Chhetri, who serves northwestern Missouri from his base in Caldwell County, agrees that letting leaves do their thing is better than carting them off to a landfill. That has all kinds of long-term costs, environmental and otherwise. Moreover, removing fallen leaves takes away vital habitat that insects need to survive the winter, Chhetri said.
Trenton’s fiscal year shows varied tax revenue trends
Revenue from Trenton city sales taxes on retail purchases designated for general purposes, capital projects, parks, transportation, and fire department needs has decreased by more than $26,000. However, income from Trenton’s local use tax has increased by over $98,000. This results in an overall growth in sales tax revenue of nearly $72,000 so far in Trenton’s fiscal year.
