The warmest March on record, according to the NCEI

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – After some warmer weather earlier this week it has cooled down a bit.

March 2024 was the warmest March on record. According to the National Centers for Environmental Information, the average global temperature for March was 2.43 degrees above the 20th century average of 54.9 degrees. That makes it the warmest March on record and the tenth month in a row of record-high global temperatures.

According to NCEI there is a 55% chance that 2024 will rank as the warmest year on record and a 99% chance it will rank in the top five. Year to date, the period from January to March was also the warmest such period on record as well.
