    Stadium opposition grows

The Chicago Bears face another obstacle in its plans to build a new lakefront stadium. The Chicago advocacy group Friends of the Parks says it is prepared to fight for the lakefront.

Like Soldier Field, the new stadium would be built on parkland that is owned by the Chicago Park District, which raises further issues.

    Stormy weather impacts state

Severe weather impacted parts of Illinois Tuesday. A strong line of thunderstorms moved through the state during the morning hours.

Dozens of farm animals were rescued after a barn collapse in Harvard near the Wisconsin border. The Harvard Fire Protection District said the collapse of the 30-by-50 foot-long structure created a void on the lower level that saved almost all the animals.

The Illinois Department of Transportation reported that a section of Interstate 57 was blocked for a time near Chicago because of flooding. Effingham was particularly hard hit by severe weather. In their wake, the storms left behind damage to trailer homes and other buildings in town.

    Biden visiting Chicago

President Joe Biden will be in Chicago Wednesday for a campaign fundraiser. His visit is the latest stop in the Midwest in an effort to raise money for the Biden Victory Fund.

Biden was in Illinois last month for another campaign fundraiser. Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled to visit Chicago next week.
