The Padres suffered a tough loss to the Cubs 3-2 on Tuesday night. Randy Vasquez pitched admirably, allowing just one run on a solo homer to Cody Bellinger in the 4th inning. Cubs starter Shota Imanaga was nearly flawless, beginning the game with 7 shutout innings. Craig Counsell brought Imanaga out to pitch the 8th inning, and after Luis Arraez led off with a pinch-hit single, Jurickson Profar hit a go-ahead 2-run homer to give the Padres a 2-1 lead in the 8th. The Cubs tied the game on a sac-fly from Christopher Morel in the bottom of the 8th inning off of Yuki Matsui, and Michael Busch hit a walk-off solo home run on the first pitch he saw from Enyel De Los Santos in the bottom of the 9th, as the Padres comeback was spoiled. Dylan Cease will start for the Padres on Wednesday as they look to win their second series against the Cubs this season.
