Chicago Sky Head Coach Addresses Angel Reese Choosing Met Gala Over Practice

    By Grant Young,

Angel Reese left the Chicago Sky's May 6th practice early to attend the Met Gala.

While Reese performed well during her first WNBA preseason game against the Minnesota Lynx, her choosing the Met Gala event instead of practice is turning some heads, especially because the Sky's next preseason game takes place on Tuesday, against the New York Liberty.

If that preseason game took place in New York, where the Liberty play and where the 2024 Met Gala was, maybe it would have made sense for Reese to leave there.

But Tuesday's game takes place in Chicago.

If anybody has a right to be upset about Reese's decision, it would be the Sky's first year head coach, Teresa Weatherspoon.

Weatherspoon is trying to improve her team's chemistry before the WNBA regular season begins on May 15.

Although Reese did so with Weatherspoon's blessing.

When Weatherspoon was asked about Reese missing practice, she said, "There were things that were in place for them that we thought were very important for them to be part of. That’s something they earned and that’s never something we’d ever take away.”

Reese's performance on Tuesday will tell us whether she made the right choice.
