    Gang violence disrupts Cinco De May parade

    A Cinco De May parade was disrupted on Sunday due to gang violence. ShotSpotter alerted the Chicago Police Department that there was gunfire in the area. Video showed rival gangs along the parade route flashing signs from the crowds. Chicago police said 25 gang members were taken into custody. Local officials announced that the parade had been canceled, but organizers said the parade was rerouted and went on as planned.

    State issues 35 cannabis dispensary licenses

    The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation has issued 35 additional Conditional Adult Use Dispensing Organization Licenses to applicants from the Social Equity Criteria Lottery. Applicants issued a conditional license will now have 365 days to build their dispensary and receive final approval for their license. Dispensaries may only begin adult use of cannabis sales once they receive their full license from the state.

    Lawmakers eye Dave & Buster's gambling proposal

    Last week, a software company revealed that it was working with the entertainment chain Dave & Busters to allow customers to place bets on their arcade games through its app. Now in response to the news, lawmakers in several states including Illinois are working to ban the practice before it begins. A bill in the Illinois General Assembly would prohibit the family amusement chain from facilitating wagering on amusement games.
