A 46-year-old woman has been taken into custody under suspicion of kidnapping and fatally shooting a 35-year-old car salesman in February. Rosie Chavez, according to Chicago Police, is alleged to have fatally shot Crisoforo Osorio-Gonzalez on February 10 in the 3600 block of West 26th Street. Osorio-Gonzalez was found dead on February 13 in a Little Village alley.

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A 33-year-old Phoenix man has been convicted of murdering four men in a failed attempt to take over the drug business that left three of the men shot to death, their bodies set on fire inside of a burning car left abandoned in a residential neighborhood in Orange in the middle of the day in 2015. The body of a fourth man was found inside of a car in Fontana six days after he was shot to death; his killers recorded his dying moments on a cell phone, according to the OCDA .

Aurora pit bull owners and other dog lovers made themselves heard Monday during the Aurora City Council meeting. A judge’s recent decision means pit bulls once again aren’t allowed in the city. This prompted owners of the breed to take their grievances to City Hall.

The Denver City Council learned more Wednesday about the workforce development component of the Denver Asylum Seekers Program. The city has transitioned the way it helps migrants, closing shelters and instead placing 800 people in the asylum program. That includes people who had been staying in non-congregate hotel shelters, all but one of which have closed. New migrant arrivals will not be eligible for the six-month work program until some graduate, according to a presentation by city staff. The city intends to keep 500 people in the work program at a time, according to Tony Anderson, workforce development manager for the city.

I can’t help but wonder how many vacant buildings in Denver play host to people experiencing homelessness. I expect it’s quite a few. There is a vacant building next to Martin Luther King, Jr. Park where I walk every day. Every time someone with a dog walks past it, the dog growls at the building.
