(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The mother of Chicago teenager Damien Abenante-Villa, who was shot and killed in northwest Indiana in March, demanded answers on Saturday.

Nearly one month after Damien was killed while walking to a family birthday in Whiting, Ind., dozens gathered at the site of the shooting this weekend to pay respect to the 14-year-old’s life.

Those in attendance lit candles and released balloons in his honor. Among them: Damien's mother Amanda Abenante, who told CBS 2 that she has still not received any updates from police.

“It’s [been] four weeks, how much longer?” she said. “Four months? It might even be four years. Where is the justice?”

Abenante said she's begging anyone who knows something to come forward.

“I just want someone to come forward, someone that knows something,” she said. “Somebody knows something. If you have a heart, and you put yourself in my shoes, you will say something. You will say something.”

Police said Damien had been visiting Indiana for the weekend. He was shot in the chest and died from his wound at the hospital.
