UC Health Ice Rink returns to downtown Cincinnati through February

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The UC Health Ice Rink opens Saturday at Elm Street Plaza, launching a season of skating and holiday events in downtown Cincinnati. Opening day runs from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. and will include visits from local mascots, a s’mores bar and face painting. ArtisanFest will also be at the plaza, where visitors can shop from local artists and vendors.

Data Centers Take a Beating at the Ballot Box, Putting Land Valuations on Notice

The vote wasn't close. In Trenton, Ohio, a ballot measure capping data center capacity at 25 megawatts passed with nearly 80 percent of the vote Tuesday. Eighteen other Ohio municipalities posted similar results, and the rejection spread nationwide: voters in at least 29 jurisdictions passed bans or restrictions on data centers, The Washington Post reported, while the Data Centers on the Ballot tracker counted 37 restrictive measures passed and six more leading as of Wednesday morning. Only one — in Harwood, North Dakota — was voted down.

A large Halloween crowd gathered at a BP gas station on Jefferson Avenue in Cincinnati’s Corryville neighborhood on October 31. The gas station owner’s son described the incident as a takeover after hundreds of people reportedly danced, climbed on gas pumps and scattered fake money around the property. The gathering occurred amid wider Halloween disturbances that left two Cincinnati police officers injured and resulted in 44 arrests citywide. The business owner’s family is calling for increased police presence and better communication with city officials.

Center Court Is On The Indiana-Ohio Border

There is a gymnasium located in eastern Indiana where a shot can leave your hands in one state and drop through the net in another. The Union School sits on the stateline at College Corner, Ohio and West College Cornet, Indiana … the first gym one was built together in 1893. A replacement was designed in 1925 and dedicated on December 21, 1926, with a center stone set on the boundary and an arched doorway on each state’s side. Center court is the border.

New builder steps in to finish 31-home College Hill project

A new builder is taking over Station Court in Cincinnati’s College Hill neighborhood, where 29 of the planned 31 single-family homes remain to be built. Thomas J. Ackermann Company has been named the new builder for the residential development, according to a community announcement. The change is intended to restart work on a project that has faced delays since breaking ground in 2023. Two homes have been completed at Station Court. The announcement cited higher construction costs, challenging economic conditions and broader housing market pressures as factors that slowed the development. “College Hill cannot afford to stand still, and neither can our development pipeline,” said Emmanuel Karikari, CEO of CHCURC . “Station Court is an important residential investment, and bringing in a builder with T.J.
