Maryland Agriculture Secretary Kevin Atticks recently embarked on a tour of Queen Anne’s County, where he visited several farms showcasing excellence in local farming programs. These farms highlighted innovative initiatives supported by both local and state grant funding operations, furthering their commitment to sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship.

The tour began at Kristy’s Backyard Blooms, a family-run business situated outside Centreville. Kristy Dulin showcased her farm’s greenhouse, which received funding support through a state grant. In addition to poultry and grain production, Kristy’s Backyard Blooms has successfully integrated a flower business into their business footprint

The tour also include Oksana’s Produce Farm in Chestertown, where Secretary Atticks met with Oksana Bocharova, the farm’s owner. Bocharova passion for farming was nurtured by her father in Russia. Oksana’s Produce Farm employs sustainable farming methods and organic practices.

County Commissioner Jack Wilson expressed pride in showcasing local farms that exemplify Maryland’s agricultural heritage and commitment to sustainability.
