    150 years agoMay 2, 1874

    • The Kent County Railroad Company having, it is stated, failed to meets its payment on the leased road from Massey’s to Townsend, has been restrained from running trains over that road. The Queen Anne’s train, is, therefore, now the only one which uses the branch road, the Kent train running only to Massey’s.

    100 years agoMay 3, 1924

    • As predicted by the Kent News, as a result of the improvements in the fire defenses, especially the recent purchase of a fire-fighting apparatus, the deficiency charge in insurance rates in Chestertown has been reduced from 46 cents to 27 cents.

    50 years agoMay 1, 1974

    • A “public information session” on the proposed Still Pond Neck power plant site has been scheduled for Thursday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the American Legion home in Betterton.

    • The Kent County Board of Education met here last Wednesday, and heard reports on school renovation and construction in the county. William H. Landon, Director of Administrative Services, appeared before the Board and discussed the progress of various school construction projects.

    • What happened in Colorado could happen here. Kent County High School principal Harry Martin said he did not think there was any fool-proof method to prevent an incident here like the shooting on April 20 of 14 high school students and a teacher in Littleton, Colo.
