Two people were killed and two others injured in a two-vehicle crash in Varina early Thursday morning, according to Henrico Police.

The crash happened at the intersection of South Laburnum Avenue and New Market Road (Route 5) at about 6:17 a.m. When officers arrived, they found a box truck on its side in the woodline along with a SUV, police said.

Two passengers in the SUV, identified as 24-year-old Hilda Nunez of Henrico and 20-year-old Lizbeth Alvarez of Chesterfield, were pronounced dead at the scene.
