Chenango River Theatre presents ‘Boeing Boeing’

GREENE, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) — And you thought Boeing was having problems. Chenango River Theatre’s 2024 season is taking off with a production of the classic French farce “Boeing Boeing.”

The comedy centers around Bernard, a bachelor living in Paris, who is engaged to three different flight attendants who, by a twist of fate, all end up at his apartment on the same day. Donovan Stanfield of Syracuse portrays Bernard.

He says the fast paced timing keeps the actors on their toes.

“The faster it goes, the funnier it is. I love playing with tempo. I love playing with the speed. I love playing with, we could use the word choreography, considering how intricate some of the scenes are and how intricate the timing is in some moments,” Bernard said.

“The show is very funny. All of the characters are so unique and different from one another that it’s really just fun to play with how can I make my character’s personality so much different from the other characters’ personality. It’s just fun to see how we all put our own little spin on the characters,” actor Joelle Smith said.

Stanfield and Smith are making their CRT debuts when Boeing Boeing opens tomorrow, May 24, and runs for three weekends.

Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at ChenangoRiverTheatre.org .
