Bailey Doubles in Two to Key 5-Run Rally in the Fourth that Sends Chatham Softball to 5-4 Win vs. Mendham

CHATHAM, NJ -- Senior third baseman Abby Bailey hit a two-run double and scored a run to key a five-run rally in the fourth inning that sent Chatham to a 5-4 softball win vs. Mendham on Wednesday at the Chatham Middle School.

Mendham (3-13) scored two runs in the first and two more in the second to take a 4-0 lead before Chatham (4-12) scored all its runs in the fourth inning. Junior right-hander Lara Thistlethwaite came on in relief to earn the win. She struck out six and allowed two hits in her 5 1/3 innings of work.

Freshman Charlie Askins contributed an RBI single and scored for Chatham. Alessa Cooney had a hit and a run scored for the Cougars, who also got runs scored in the inning from Maddie Huth and Thistlethwaite.
