    Prosecutors say Clinton Township man shot neighbor he thought was involved with his girlfriend

    CLINTON TWP. (WWJ) -- A Clinton Township man could be facing life in prison after he allegedly shot his neighbor, in an argument over a woman.

    According to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office, 32-year-old Steven Cole confronted his neighbor in the parking lot of their apartment complex last Thursday, April 25.

    Investigators said Cole accused the neighbor of having inappropriate contact with his girlfriend, before allegedly shooting the neighbor twice.

    The victim is expected to recover.

    Cole has been in trouble with the law before, and is being charged is a habitual fourth offender. In this case he is charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, which is a life felony, as well as two felony weapons charges.

    Cole was arraigned in 41B Clinton Township District Court, where bond was set at $250,000 cash/surety, no 10%. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim or anyone associated with the case. If he is released on bond, he was must wear GPS tether, and can have no drugs, alcohol or weapons.

    Cole's next scheduled court date in set for May 14.
