CHARLOTTE, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A procession honoring local law enforcement during National Police Week will take place near uptown Charlotte on Friday.

The procession comes on the heels of a devastating shootout in Charlotte between a suspect and a U.S. Marshals Task Force Unit that tragically ended with the loss of lives of four officers.

The event will take place at 9:45 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, the site where two of the fallen officers’ memorial services were held. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police will also have a formation beginning at that time in front of its Uptown headquarters.
