CHARLOTTE, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) – Crews spent Thursday preparing for Charlotte’s newest three-day concert, the Lovin’ Life Music Fest, which begins Friday, May 3.
The festival in uptown will feature more than 40 national and regional artists, including headliners Post Malone, Noah Kahan and Stevie Nicks.
Road closures around First Ward Park started several days ahead of the concert. Brevard Street, Caldwell Street and Seventh, Eighth and Ninth streets will all be closed to traffic at various times during the weekend.
Organizers said the three-day event will be worth the traffic headache.
“We understand we’re disrupting people with closing streets and the major stakeholders involved in making that happen realize the benefit of this festival and were ok to take these risks,” said Bob Durkin, CEO of Southern Entertainment.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers said, despite a tragic week, they are ready for the event which stands to attract more than 25,000 people.
“We have a very large footprint for the interior and exterior, and then also we’re exceeding staffing levels in the divisions around the city so that way we can ensure we can respond to anything that we need to,” said Deputy Chief Jacquelyn Bryley.
Charlotte Area Transit System leaders said the city bus and light rail services will be busy each day of the weekend but warned Saturday might get extra congested as there is also a Charlotte FC match at Bank of America Stadium that night.
“We’ll have additional capacity along the Blue Line, we also have the ability to increase and do some express buses to help support the Blue Line,” said CATS interim CEO Brent Cagle.
Cagle said each stop along the Blue Line and Gold Line will have department ambassadors to assist riders, as well as extra security and fare enforcement officers.
General Admission and GA+ tickets are sold out, but fans can still purchase Main Stage VIP tickets and Super VIP tickets for one day or all three days. The price for available seats ranges from $225 to $1,299.
