Mom's horror as she discovers truth behind daughter's 'monster' living in wall

A mom has been left horrified after discovering the 'monster' her daughter claimed was living in her wall turned out to be a swarm of 60,000 bees. Three-year-old Saylor Class from Charlotte, North Carolina, had been insisting there were 'monsters' in her walls.

Her mom, Ashley Massis Class, brushed off her daughter's claims as typical childhood fears and even gave her a water bottle to 'spray away any monsters at night', according to BBC . However, it seems Saylor's fears were not unfounded - a beekeeper later found approximately 60,000 honeybees residing within her bedroom wall, causing over $20,000 worth of damage.

Ashley shared the shocking discovery on TikTok, posting a thermal image of the wall with the caption: "When your daughter has been hearing 'monsters' in the walls". She then revealed a massive hole in the wall exposing the hive, adding: "What nightmares are made of."

Beekeeper Curtis found that the honeybees had infiltrated not just the wall but also the floorboards in the attic. He estimates that Ashley and her family have unknowingly shared their home with the bees for about eight months, reports the Mirror .

Since their discovery, he has been removing around 20,000 bees and over 100 pounds of honeycomb daily. In a stroke of good luck, he successfully found and removed the queen bee encouraging the remainder to vacate. In a follow-up TikTok video, Ashley praised: "Curtis has been a godsend helping us with this whole process."

The family now faces a two-week waiting period before patching the gaping hole in Saylor's bedroom, prompting a joke from Ashley about the absurdity of their circumstances: "Chalk this up to as one of the items I did not think I would be having to deal with while being 10 weeks postpartum."

Reacting to her videos, a TikToker quipped: "I would honestly rather have monsters in the wall than to have 50k bees." Another jested, "But you know what, I'll take bees over 50k spiders! " a third admitted, "I would cry before knowing it was bees."
