The Carolina Panthers are wheeling and dealing on the first two days of the 2024 NFL Draft.

As pick No. 39 overall approach on Day 2, Dan Morgan pulled the trigger on a deal with the Los Angeles Rams.

Carolina sent away the No. 39 overall pick and received pick No. 52, a fifth-rounder (155) and a second-round pick in 2025. The second-round pick in 2025 is the same selection Carolina sent away to Chicago when it traded for the No. 1 pick that became franchise quarterback Bryce Young.

Grading the Panthers-Rams trade

Panthers grade: A

The name of the game for the Morgan tenure thus far has been redirecting a ship that was sinking. A trade like this on Day 2 is exactly that.

In dealing away pick No. 39, the Panthers add draft capital without missing out on a chance to select the type of "dog" Morgan has long talked about in the weeks leading up to the draft.

Yes, Carolina still needs to address the secondary and the pass-rush position. However, with the offensive-heavy day the draft had in round one, some talented defensive guys will still be available as the draft progresses.

The name of the game is getting more bites at the apple. That is exactly what Morgan did in this trade. All in all, recouping what was lost in the Young trade is always worth it, if you ask me.
