GREENVILLE. N.C (WNCT) — Protests are continuing on college campuses all across America.

Students are demanding action from their universities regarding the conflict between Israel and Palestine. They are demanding their respective universities stop financial ties with Israeli companies.

UNC-Chapel Hill and Columbia are two of the epicenters of the conflicts. On Tuesday, things escalated when students replaced an American flag on the main quad at UNC with a Palestinian flag. One student, who wants to remain anonymous, said the violence that continued, was concerning.

“To see it kind of turn you know, violent, and you know, the American flag being taken down, and having to be defended and put back up, I think was really disturbing for a lot of UNC,” the student said.

“Students especially who were just trying to enjoy their last day of class to have it canceled then to have campus be in such a hostile state.”
