Colleen Flannery, chief technology officer for the Chandler Unified School District, is a 2024 ORBIE Award winner.
On May 3, ArizonaCIO recognized technology executives in six key categories — global, large enterprise, enterprise, large corporate, corporate, and leadership.

Flannery has been with CUSD for almost 30 years. Under her leadership, CUSD has successfully integrated state-of-the-art technology that untethers teachers and students, such as interactive flat panels in classrooms, one-to-one technology for all CUSD students and offering innovative learning opportunities, including cybersecurity, drone technology, and game design.

The district’s eSports team has experienced success under Flannery.

The ORBIE honors chief information officers who have demonstrated excellence in technology leadership, according to a news release.

Finalists and winners are selected by an independent peer review process, led by prior ORBIE recipients, based upon:

    • Leadership and management effectiveness

    • Business value created by technology innovation

    • Engagement in industry and community endeavors.

CUSD was the only school district to be recognized in the 2024 ceremony.
