Kratky earns another shot at House District 29B seat
Monticello resident Colton Kratky handily won the DFL nomination for Minnesota House District 29B in Tuesday’s primary election, setting up a November rematch with Republican Rep. Marion Rarick. Kratky received 638 votes, or 59.4%, while Marcus D. Claxton received 437 votes, or 40.7%, according to unofficial results from the Minnesota Secretary of State’s Office. All 14 precincts had reported as of 9:38 p.m. Both candidates are Monticello residents. Kratky said he was “very happy” with the result and encouraged that his campaign efforts had paid off. “It’s nice to know that what I was doing was working,” he said. Kratky credited his previous campaign with giving him name recognition and experience. He also said attending community events and knocking on doors helped voters learn where he stood on the issues. As he moves into the general election, Kratky said he plans to increase his door-knocking efforts, particularly among independent voters, and continue sharing his positions with residents. “I really just try to meet as many people as possible in the district, to let them get to know me as a person and not just a name or a party letter,” he said. Kratky thanked voters for their support and said
