    UPDATE: Phone system back to normal for several Champaign government buildings

    5/16 4:00 P.M. UPDATE: Around 3:45 p.m., the city notes all of its phone system are up and running. Officials thank the public for their patience and those who contacted the city through email.

    5/16 12:00 P.M. UPDATE: As of Thursday morning, city phone lines continue to experience issues problems like poor call quality and dropped calls. Staff members are troubleshooting the issue with vendors and trying to find the cause of the problem.

    CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Several Champaign buildings are experiencing issues with their phone system.

    Facilities like the City Hall, Fire Department, the Library, Public Works and the non-emergency line for the Police department are all experiencing the phone outage, according to a post on the city’s Facebook page. City officials are working on resolving the issue.

    METCAD 9-1-1 is unaffected by the outage, so anyone experiencing an emergency can still call 9-1-1.
