The Ohio Amish Bulk Food Store Where Deli Meat And Baking Supply Prices Make Shoppers Look Twice

A deli counter on a quiet country ridge road slices local lunch meat at prices that make regular grocery receipts look a little silly. That alone got my attention. The same small Ohio shop sells specialty flours in commercial-size bags. It also stocks spices, canning supplies, and the tiny dry marshmallows that big supermarkets always seem to forget.

The most harmful part of Cambridge’s divestment debate wasn’t the vote

The Cambridge City Council voted Wednesday to divest from companies “contributing to genocide, apartheid and occupation of Palestinians.” (“Cambridge votes 5-4 for order to divest money from businesses involved with Israel’s actions against Palestinians,” Oct. 28.) As a Muslim, parent, health equity researcher and longtime Cambridge resident, what stuck with me more than the vote was the language preceding it. Before the vote, I sat silently as a city councillor used her platform to spout debunked propaganda and dehumanizing rhetoric. When she said the population of Palestinians was still rising, so it could not be genocide, it felt like she was saying that not enough Palestinians had been killed, like we were talking about insects that needed to be exterminated.

Chillicothe Farmers Market officially moves to Yoctangee Park

CHILLICOTHE— If you are looking for a place to get the freshest fruits and vegetables in Ross County, look no further than the Chillicothe Farmers Market, which will soon celebrate its move to a new location in Yoctangee Park. The market has operated in several different locations in recent years, but vendors could often be found in the parking lot of the service building. That area offered no shade or protection from the elements. This new location inside the multi-purpose building in Yoctangee Park provides shelter year-round for vendors and customers, keeping them out of the snow and rain. The bay windows on each side of the building will allow for airflow and easy access to and from the park. Earlier this summer, when vendors were asked their thoughts on the move , many said they were looking forward to having a permanent home that can be used year-round. Now that the building is actually built, vendors can actually see their future home and better visualize what markets will be like in the park and near Chillicothe's downtown. James Hall, owner of Risen Bakery and the Chillicothe Farmers Market president, said vendors have been excited to move to the new

Six years strong: A Texas Roadhouse employee is an inspiration

Six years. Not a single missed day of work. Never late. For Ed Williams, a Ross County resident with a developmental disability, showing up to work at Texas Roadhouse isn't just a responsibility. It's something he genuinely loves to do, according to a community announcement. October marks National Disability Employment Awareness Month and the Ross County Board of Developmental Disabilities is celebrating Williams' employment success and recognizing local businesses that create opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities to thrive in the workforce. Six years ago, Texas Roadhouse Managing Partner Robert Moore hired Williams to assist with cleaning and maintaining the restaurant. What started as an employment opportunity has grown into six years of dedication, friendship and independence. Williams takes pride in keeping the restaurant clean, stocking supplies, helping his coworkers and making sure everything is ready for customers. His reliability and positive attitude have made him an important part of the team. "I love it. He's never late. He's always here. He's always smiling. He's always happy," Moore said. "Everybody loves it when he's here because he helps out anybody who needs anything." For Williams, the relationships he's built at work are just as important as the work itself. "I

Genesis reaches deals with Aetna, CareSource after dispute over denied claims

ZANESVILLE – Genesis HealthCare System has reached new agreements with two health insurance providers, CareSource and Aetna. They come nearly two months after Genesis announced that 9,000 denied and disputed claims from four providers and millions of dollars in losses had weighed on future contracts. CareSource Medicaid, Next Generation MyCare Ohio Plan and Aetna Medicare Advantage members will now maintain in-network access to Genesis through 2027 under the new deals, according to a release from Genesis HealthCare System. Genesis previously said it would end contracts for Medicare Advantage plans under Aetna, UnitedHealthcare and Medical Mutual of Ohio and Medicare Advantage and Medicaid plans under CareSource on Jan. 1, unless new agreements were reached. Genesis anticipates releasing another announcement on the other insurance plans in the near future. Existing coverage for the remaining plans will remain unaffected through Dec. 31. If no agreements are reached, then those insurance plans would become out-of-network for nonemergency care at Genesis on Jan. 1. Emergency care will remain covered at in-network rates regardless of contract status, Genesis previously said. More: Genesis says 9,000 denied claims could mean dropping four insurers' contracts It was necessary to address the rising coverage denials and payment disputes, Genesis announced
