A Winlock man accused of raping a woman in Centralia in 2023 is now facing a second-degree rape charge in Lewis County Superior Court.

The victim reported the rape the same day it occurred on Aug. 16, 2023, according to charging documents filed in Lewis County Superior Court.

Tyson Bonds, 18, is accused of raping the victim in her residence after she invited him over, according to court documents. The victim reported she was able to “swing at Bonds and get away” and then call other friends for help.

The victim submitted a sexual assault kit to the Centralia Police Department, which was tested by the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab, according to court documents.

Initial testing did not identify a suspect in the rape, but further testing reportedly showed Bonds’ DNA was present in the kit.

The Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office filed one count of second-degree assault against Bonds on April 11, according to court documents.

Bonds was issued a summons notice for a May 14 preliminary hearing in Lewis County Superior Court, which he was not present for.

Due to his failure to appear, Judge J. Andrew Toynbee issued a $50,000 bench warrant for Bonds’ arrest.
