"Everything is on the table" for next occupancy in 1st Ave. Hy-Vee location
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — There are new indications on what might replace the 1st Ave. Hy-Vee that serves the Wellington Heights and Moundview Neighborhoods. Local sign painter helps restore iconic mural in Shellsburg on Thursday
Shellsburg — In eastern Iowa, restoration efforts are underway to help preserve an iconic mural. Right now, Artist and Owner of Signs Unlimited, Ed Callan, is re-painting the Gold Medal Flour Mural. That mural sits on the side of the Pearl Street Social Club building in the 100 block of Pearl Street.
Greenway Park project revitalizing 100 acres of land hardest hit by ‘08 flood
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - The scars of the 2008 flood remain in several parts of Cedar Rapids. Now, plans for 100 of the hardest-hit acres of land are moving forward. This week the city council agreed to a concept to make the West side of the Cedar River more of a community gathering area.

Two school districts and a drug prevention group each received a five-year, $50,000 drug prevention and treatment grant that they plan to use to tackle youth drug abuse. The Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA) grant went to the Clinton Substance Abuse Council, Mount Vernon Community School District and Vinton Shellsburg Community School District.
