Below Average this Weekend, Rain/Storms Back in the Middle of Next Week!
We are still waiting on the official numbers from the National Weather Service, but it looks like our April, just like March, was one of the top 3 warmest months on record. We only saw 4 days below average the entire month. May on the other hand, has started out below average and will stay that way through the weekend. We could warm up a bit next week and that will bring back a chance for some showers and storms in the middle of the week. Overall the weekend is looking dry and Sunday is looking like a nice sunny day. We will have the official report on where April ranks, your complete weekend forecast and more on next week’s storm threat coming up here.

EF-0 Tornado Confirmed East of Dyersburg, Dry & Cooler For a Little While
The NWS in Memphis has confirmed an EF-0 tornado that was on the ground for a few minutes in East Dyersburg. The most significant damage occurred at a warehouse on E Court St, where ten skylights were blown out and a large metal panel was pulled from the side of the building. There were several wind damage reports to trees and powerlines and a couple hail reports. The biggest impact was the drought busting heavy rain that fell in many places. We averaged close to 3″ of rain with some locations in Crockett, Gibson, and Hardeman counties picking up a half foot. Very little rain is in the forecast through early next week.

Jackson prepares for hail, wind; insurance agent suggests precautions
"We overbuy what we have for groceries, so that's not an issue. I don't have anywhere to go, so I don't have to get out in it," said Rosalind Williams, a Jackson resident. The chances of Jackson seeing damaging winds and hail have been growing steadily as a potential storm gets nearer to the area, but people in Jackson, like Williams and Andrew Egerton, aren’t that worried about damage to their houses or cars.

Nearly 5,000 Jackson residents lost power during storm. The latest
High winds knocked down several utility poles during the early morning hours of April 28, leaving 4,900 Jackson-area residents without power, but the outage was short-lived and no injuries were reported. The Jackson Energy Authority reported that power was restored to most residents within an hour of the outages. As of 8:30 a.m., 400 residents remain without power, mostly concentrated off I-40 in the Exit 86 area. Phil Baker, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Memphis, confirmed no tornadoes touched down in West Tennessee overnight, and the extent of damage was a handful of fallen trees and power lines in Decatur, Henderson, and Madison Counties. In order to fully restore power, new utility poles will need to be installed, and damaged areas will require power line resetting. Baker said Madison County's thunderstorm forecast for April 28 will be a strong combination of wind and hail. This is set to begin between 4-5 p.m. "The bulk of the energy is going to come in from Arkansas, and that's when we expect the thunderstorm chances to really affect the Jackson, Tennessee area," Baker said. "These storms are probably going to pack a pretty good wind threat as well as some
