‘You never really adapt’: Families of Louisiana couple shot, burned in 2016 remember them
Eight years after their deaths, the families of a young Lafayette couple shot and burned remembered their loved ones as the murder trial of their accused killer concluded. On Thursday, 23-year-old Ashley Metz and 22-year-old Brouklynn Hill’s accused killer was found guilty of murder. Joshua Willis, 39, of Lafayette, was convicted of first-degree murder in Metz’s death and second-degree murder in Hill’s death following a nine-day trial.

Sanford explained Thursday, May 2 at approximately 7:48 p.m. officers with the Lafayette Police Department Patrol division responded to the 4000 block of Ambassador Caffrey at Dover Boulevard involving a vehicle crash of a motorcycle and a pickup truck. Upon the officer's arrival, it was learned that the motorcyclist Ronnie Lee Trahan, 34, of Maurice was declared dead on the scene.
