LETTER: Appleton reader grateful for generous community after storms
What tornado response would make Fox Valley strong? We are a generous community. We welcomed the Hmong via church communities in the 1980s, have also welcomed people from all over the world who are seeking a better life. We act according to the Golden rule, treat others as you want to be treated. So today our family discussed what we can do. Already so many of us in the Fox Valley area have donated money, volunteer service and items to address this catastrophe. The Community Foundation, United Way and LEAVEN are giving money to those impacted . Thank you! What would help us, as a household, would be a best-practices guide for us to use in order to accept properly-vetted individuals/small families into our home. With devastation so high in our area, we all can extend our humanity, hospitality and while acting responsibly and thoroughly to all who can use our help. Continuing on with hope and a strong heart.
