Years-long construction projects in Burlington, Vermont disrupt local businesses
The biggest city in the state of Vermont, Burlington, has been changing rapidly over the past years. To implement some of these changes, there has been a lot of construction in Burlington, disrupting local businesses. Some of this construction led to the loss of a legendary music spot and bar closing, a spot that had hosted the early concerts of now famous Vermont musicians. I believe that many of these changes were not necessary, and that the construction could have moved quicker and saved local businesses if they had only addressed the needed issues and skipped expanding the sidewalks.

Burton Snowboards tabs Denny Bruce, who once was a regional brand manager, to be its CEO
BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — Burton Snowboards tapped into its past Tuesday, naming one-time regional brand manager Denny Bruce to take over as CEO as the company approaches its 50th anniversary. Bruce worked as the snowboard maker’s Mid-Atlantic Brand Manager from 2003-05 before moving onto a career that included leadership roles at Vans, Skullcandy, Traeger and Dickies. He’ll take over for Donna Carpenter, who had been serving on an interim basis. Carpenter’s husband, the late Jake Burton Carpenter, founded the company in 1977, crafting snowboards in a workshop in his barn in Vermont. It has remained privately owned since. “Denny doesn’t need to be taught what Burton means or why snowboarding matters,” Carpenter said. ___

Plattsburgh considers short-term ban on crypto ventures
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) - Plattsburgh is considering a short-term ban on any crypto ventures. Plattsburgh is known for attracting crypto miners because of its low electric rates. Mayor Wendell Hughes says if passed, the temporary ban would give the city time to codify new zoning changes. He says those new changes would ensure the city’s energy allotment from the state isn’t eaten up by new crypto or data centers, which he says can use 50 megawatts.
