CANTON, New York (WWNY) - A Waddington man who fled police after a traffic stop is accused of possessing a quantity of meth. St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies say 47-year-old Leslie George refused to comply and fled the scene after he was pulled over on State Route 68 in the town of Canton on Sunday.

Wanted man facing drug charges following traffic stop in Old Forge
OLD FORGE, N.Y. – A Saranac Lake man is facing drug charges following a traffic stop in Old Forge on March 17. Town of Webb police stopped the vehicle just before midnight on State Route 28 after discovering it belonged to Anthony Chandler, who had an active warrant out of Oneida County. The vehicle’s inspection had also expired.
Two Newton Falls, NY females arrested for petit larceny
On March 18, 2023, Troopers arrested Tabatha P. Ingram, age 30 from Newton Falls, NY and Michelle M. Hudson, age 38 of Newtown Falls, NY for petit larceny. On March 9, 2023, around 4:13 p.m., Troopers responded to Dollar General located on State Highway 3, in the town of Fine for a larceny complaint. An investigation determined two females entered the store stealing merchandise. The females were identified as Ingram and Hudson, and they left the store prior to law enforcements arrival.
APA denies boathouse variance
The Adirondack Park Agency rejected for a second time a request from two camp owners to build a boathouse addition on Spitfire Lake in Franklin County to accommodate their third antique wooden boat. Commissioners split on the variance, with some worried about the precedence of approval and others worried about the unintended consequences of denial.
New York woman pleads guilty in mother's stabbing death
TUPPER LAKE, N.Y. — A New York woman has pleaded guilty to a charge of second-degree murder in the stabbing death of her mother, according to the Franklin County District Attorney's office. Investigators say Alexa Gallagher, 26, of Tupper Lake, stabbed her mother with a knife in July 2022.
Town Of Webb Police Make Heroin Arrest
TOWN OF WEBB, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – Town of Webb Police made an arrest of two Saranac Lake residents after finding heroin and methamphetamines during a traffic stop. On Saturday, March 18 at approximately midnight, police made a stop of a vehicle on State Route 28 in Old Forge after it was found that their inspection sticker had expired. An investigation found that the owner, 39-year-old Anthony Chandler of Saranac Lake, had an outstanding warrant in Oneida County.

St. Lawrence County receives federal disaster declaration for December blizzard
ALBANY, New York (WWNY) - St. Lawrence County is now eligible for federal funding after President Joe Biden approved a major disaster declaration for parts of New York state.
